Notes: This shipboard jammer entered service in 1959 and was specifically intended to jam the AS-1 “Kennel” and SS-N-2 “Styx” anti-ship missiles. The system has fixed “doughnut” upper and lower antennas with a trainable antenna inbetween. The trainable antenna actually does the jamming, it can target three incoming missiles at once.
The system was installed on some (but not all) of the FRAM-upgraded Gearing class destroyers, also on the Bronstein, Garcia, and Paul Revere class ships, and some Canadian navy frigates and destroyers.
